History
The Principality of Walkoria exists because of the discontent of a young man about the direction in which many nations have been heading for some time. This was a young man on a mission to find a fair and balanced country to dwell, free from the influence of religion and high in the respect for mother nature. After 4 years traveling the world, a disillusioned Easthope Walker stumbled upon a small island off the New Zealand coast whilst out exploring in his sea kayak. The island was free of a native population and bursting with life. A beautiful little utopia.
After this first visit, Easthope wrote a letter to the Governor-General of New Zealand (Queen Elizabeth's reprsentitive and the highest position in NZ) asking for the islands secession from New Zealand as a sovereign independent state known as Walkoria. He requested a reply within six weeks and heard nothing back. The six weeks lapsed without a reply and Easthope declared the island for his own and soon went about establishing a flag, national anthem, common law, administration and monarchy.
Three provinces were established for ease of navigation and to reflect the three noticeable differences in Walkoria's landscape.
To the south & stretching through the east is Reginopolis. This is where the natural harbour is situated and the main entrance to the island.
To the west is Cape Secession. This province is bursting with life and stunning views.
And to the north is Pacifica. Considered the most beautiful province, it holds some of the best snorkeling & fishing as well as stunning cliffs and coves.
Soon he assumed the title of HRH Prince Easthope I due to the fact that if any other nation such as NZ should try to topple a Prince "de facto" in the exercise of his functions they could be charged for treason whereas if he assumed the title of President, Prime Minister etc, Walkoria's sovereignty would be rather more vulnerable. That is the reason we operate as monarchy and the reason we are a Principality.
The micronation officially came into being on the 15th day of May 2010 when HRH Prince Easthope I sailed to the island of Walkoria and raised the flag, thus claiming the territory after deeming it free of a native population and admiring it stunning beauty and rich abundance of flora and fauna.
New Zealand has yet to fully recognise Walkoria's claim and on NZ maps the island is still named it's original 'Rabbit Island' .
Diplomatic disputes continue but our two nations continue to resolve this problem peacefully and respectfully. As the nation Of New Zealand is our closest nabour and possesses a far greater military we intend to keep relations as cooperative as possible.
