Once again Walkoria achieves nationhood.
Greetings
As of the 28th day of May 2016 The Pricipality of Walkoria is once again settled and therefor is claiming nationhood once again.
It has been nearly four years exactly since we were forced to leave due to aggression from our nearest neighbour New Zealand but we have said back to our former home and raised the flag once more.
I'm sure the 78 people around the globe that claim Walkorian citizenship will be as delighted as I am and I encourage all those who take interest in our little nation to take notice of our fair system of governance and respect for our natural surroundings.
My next task will be to submit our case as an independent nation to the UN via letter and soon after we consider assembling our national chess team and take applications for the new Miss Walkoria.
Sadly, due to difficulties with our neighbour to the south the nation will be run in a somewhat more secretive way from now on as we strive to protect our way of life on our sub tropical island home.
Kind Regards,
The Hon. Governor Lord Matthew W E W, KoP
The End of the Road for Now
Greetings.
As I'm sure you are all aware by now, the Island of Walkoria is currently unsettled due to mounting pressure from the New Zealand government via harbour masters. Due to the current lack of inhabitants, we can have no claim to sovereignty according to UN rules.
I would like to thank all that supported the Walkoria project. We had a very valid case for independence from New Zealand and the Commonwealth and endured a lot in the brief history of Walkoria.
We are reluctant to just be another micronation as the land claim was very real, and many people connected with the Principality felt our rules and visions really challenged the status quo of the worlds nations.
I myself am making inquires towards one of two other unclaimed/disputed land masses to discover if there is any way in which the Walkoria project can be re-ignited in another location.
Thank you for all of your help and support.

March/April/May 2012 State visits
Greetings all.
As you know, these recent months were set out for state visits to five Commonwealth nations, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
The bulk of this time so far has been spent in New Zealand and Australia where HRH Prince Easthope I and myself have been raising the Profile of the Principality of Walkoria and promoting its status of nationhood.
HRH is currently in Singapore and after a successful trip, is due to arrive in Malaysia tomorrow (2nd May 2012) for a week long stay.
The trip has been relativity successful so far, other than the time spent in New Zealand. The local government in the Bay of Plenty region of NZ are making life very difficult for Walkorian's and are shelling out the propaganda. It is becoming harder and harder to keep hold of our little nation and we hope that in this time of need, you will all stand up and be counted.
Regards,
The Hon. Governor Lord Matthew W E W, KoP

February 2012 Update.
Greetings all.
First of all, We are currently taking applications for passports from Walkorian citizens. We have received many inquires about passports and we are looking at beginning a small production of professional, unique walkorian passports. We do not aim to make a profit on them but due to small scale production, they will be fairly expensive and take a little time to produce.
The past month has been yes another exausting one for all of us in Walkoria. The New Zealand department of conservation has stepped up efforts to discredit Walkoria's claim as an independent nation by docking a habour masters vessil in Walkorian territorial waters and invading by foot. One member of the crew was particularly hostile towards the residents but after harassing the island for three days, back and forth, they have left. we have been in constant comminication with this government department and it seems that New Zealand's government and pushing for total rule over our territory by re-claiming the land that was, through loop-holes, established as its own separate nation.
This all comes on the eve of HRH Prince Easthope I state visits to the commonwealth nations of New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. This also happened at the time of two of our national holidays. HRH Prince easthope I birthday and Respektor day. We can't say for sure if this timing was deliberate but it was certainly unwelcome.
We will of course fight tooth and nail for our claim as the rightful owners, carers and rulers of this proud and peaceful little nation.
In lighter news, HRH Prince Easthope I has been in discussions, over the past month, with prominent Maori leaders. He felt that due to all of New Zealand and its islands being formaly owned by these peoples, Walkoria should disscuss our nations affairs with the Maori people. Discussions have developed well and the Maori King, Tuheitia Paki, has agreed to recognise our independence providing we recognise the original name for the island 'Motuotau'. Therefor, HRH have taken the decision for the Principality of Walkoria to have two official names. The one of current and also 'The Principality of Motuotau'.
Given these volotile actions by New Zealand, HRH has taken a rather sympathetic view to the case of the Falkland Islands and urges all Walkorian nationals to support the rights of the Falkland peoples and to disscourage support for Argentina's aggressive actions towards the British Overseas territory and it's people.

January 2012 Update.
Greetings fellow Walkorians and passers by.
January has been a busy month in the Principality. The Rena, cargo ship finally broke up, spilling tonnes of pollutants and debris into the sea. Some of this washed up into our territorial waters and had to be dealt with correctly, and thankfully we saw little damage to wildlife comparable to its original spills.
Myself and Prince Easthope I are due to undertake state visits to five Commonwealth nations in April and may. These being, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. We are hoping to spread awareness and mutual respect as well as applying to become a recognised commonwealth nation ourselves.
January is a shut down period for our nation in order to achieve these kinds of plans. I know many of you had tried to make contact with us over this month and although we have made every effort to get back to you in February, if anybody is still awaiting a reply, please do not hesitate to send a gentle reminder.
I hope the new year is offering all Walkorian citizens prosperity and joy.

December- R.I.P Christopher Hitchens.
I am today sad to inform you of the news that Christopher Hitchens has passed away after his struggle against cancer.
A highly controversial figure, he was held in very high regard by our leader HRH Prince Easthope I, and the world will be a little less colourful without him.
His opinions could rub anybody the wrong way, (including the Prince) but like him or not, he was a maverick, hugely entertaining and a great supporter of freedom of speech.
Here I have compiled a few of his most prominent, thought provoking & downright funny quotes. Enjoy.
On religion-
-"Religion is man-made. Even the men who made it cannot agree on what their prophets or redeemers or gurus actually said or did."
-"To terrify children with the image of Hell, to consider women an inferior creation - is that good for the world?"
-"Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are God. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realise that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."
-When a Christian claimed that God had given him "throat" cancer to punish the "one part of his body he used for blasphemy", he replied: "My so-far uncancerous throat... is not at all the only organ with which I have blasphemed."
-"(The New Testament) is a work of crude carpentry, hammered together long after its purported events, and full of improvised attempts to make things come out right."
Lifestyle-
-"The four most over-rated things in life are champagne, lobster, anal sex and picnics."-"The one unforgivable sin is to be boring."
-"The best blended Scotch in the history of the world - which was also the favourite drink of the Iraqi Baath Party, as it still is of the Palestinian Authority and the Libyan dictatorship and large branches of the Saudi Arabian royal family - is Johnnie Walker Black. Breakfast of champions, accept no substitute."
Politics-
-"Reagan is doing to the country what he can no longer do to his wife."
-"George W Bush is lucky to be governor of Texas. He is unusually incurious, abnormally unintelligent, amazingly inarticulate, fantastically uncultured, extraordinarily uneducated, and apparently quite proud of all these things."
-On Sarah Palin: "I think she's a completely straightforward cynic and opportunist and I think she's cashing out... She's made a fortune and she'll make another. But she's not actually going to do the hard work of trying to lead or build a movement."
Reflections on Life and death-
-"History is more of a tragedy than it is a morality tale."
-"Everybody does have a book in them, but in most cases that's where it should stay."
-"Literature, not scripture, sustains the mind and - since there is no other metaphor - also the soul."
-"I burned the candle at both ends and it often gave a lovely light."
-"My main fear is of being incapacitated or imbecilic at the end. It's not something to be afraid of, it's something to be terrified of."
Thank you Christopher.

In other news.
Our dear pasterfarian, Walkorian citizen and friend Niko Alm has released a very interesting youtube video just out named 'the end of freedom of religeon'. It even gives reference to Walkoria at 8min 40secs.
Mr Alm clearly has some good points on the subject of separation of religion from the state and I feel we could all learn something from this intriguing video.
Please feel free to view Niko's brilliant effort below.

November- An end to our national emergency. 14/11/11
I am very happy to report that we have officially called an end to the national emergency that has threatened our shores these past few weeks.
I can confirm this as ALL of the oil from the stricken ship 'Rena' has been pumped off.
We suffered many casualties on the island. 7 dead seals were found as well as several penguins and sea birds and countless fish.
This has been undoubtedly the most horrific event the island has ever had to endure and we now simply wait for mother nature to do her thing and slowly put things back as they were.

October 2011 Update.
Citizens of Walkoria,
Thank you all for your concern regarding the wrecked ship 'Rena'. Currently the oil is under control however the weather is turning for the worst again so we all keep our fingers crossed the ship does not break up and that all of the oil can be safely removed from the vessel.
Due to international pressures as we per pursue our dream of being UN recognised, we have been forced to make a change to our nations name. We will now be officially known as the 'Principality of Walkoria' . It is sad to have to loose some of the fabric of Walkoria but in our quest to have some of our nations kind and forward thinking ideals internationally recognised we have to jump through the occasional hoop it seems.
Due to this change, our head of state carried the title of 'Prince' rather than 'Emperor'.

State of National Emergency! 11/10/2011
I am deeply saddend to inform you of the oil that has washed up on Walkoria island.
As you may have heard, the ship Rena struck a reef 12 miles from Tauranga harbour, NZ and 9 miles from Walkoria island.
The ship is leaking tens of tonnes of oil daily and we are now seeing the first devistating signs of it washing up on our shores. Due to our high populations of pigeons, penguins, dolphins, seals and fish this is, without question, a state of national emergency. I myself tried to get out to the island again today but stormy conditions have made this impossible.

These regions in Antarctica and Africa, respectively, remain uninhabited therefor HRH Emperor Easthope I of Walkoria has claimed them for our nation. Good news! We now have our own official national anthem!

September 2011 News.
Hello all.
Welcome to our brand new website!
It has been wet and windy month on the island but with rain comes life and walkoria is currently bursting with life in every corner and under every rock.
Summer is approaching in our southern hemisphere nation but due to a turbulent spring, tourism to the island of Walkoria has been limited given the rougher than normal sea conditions.
We are searching for a very important role currently however. We seek an ambassador to our nearest nabour of New Zealand. This person must live in mainland NZ and have our nations best interests at heart. Please apply via our ''contact us'' form on our front page.
